Inquiries regarding U.S. visas

• The Consulate offers a 24-hour visa information service at 1902-941-641. The cost to listen to prerecorded information is $1.05 per minute (cost access with variable cost options. Higher rates may apply from mobile and pay phones). You can ask to be connected to a live consultant for $2.75 per minute. Live consultants are available Monday to Friday, 8:00am to 7:00pm, Australian Eastern Standard Time.
• You can request an information packet to be delivered by post, at a cost of $5.45.
• If you cannot access 1902 services, the same information is available on 1800-687-844. This 1800 service has only live consultants, no prerecorded information. The charge is $11.00, plus $5.50 if requesting an information packet. This service must be paid by credit card at the time of the call.

Passports and American Citizen Servics

8:00am - 11:30am Monday to Friday (Except the first Wednesday of the month, U.S. and NSW public holidays). Entry into the Consular Section for non-emergency services is by appointment only. You may schedule an appointment via our website. Please refer to American Citizen Services.

Nonimmigrant Visas

Immigrant visa interviews

By appointment only

Visa applicants will be notified by the Immigrant Visa Unit of their final visa interview date. For applications for “transportation letters” (ordinarily needed for the loss, theft, or expiration of an Alien Registration Card (“Green Card”)) and any other emergencies, please email SydneyIV@state.gov. To schedule and appointment to lodge an I-130 petition in Sydney, please email sydneypetitions@state.gov.
