The Economic Section deals with the full range of bilateral, regional, and multilateral economic issues as well as environmental, energy, resources, health, and science & technology affairs.  The Economic Section works closely with the offices of the Foreign Agricultural Service and the Foreign Commercial Service, as well as our Consulates General in Sydney, Perth, and Melbourne to implement President Obama’s National Export Initiative, to facilitate closer commercial ties between the United States and Australia, to enhance our bilateral cooperation in regional and global fora, and to advance the broad array of U.S. policy objectives within its portfolio.
